Operations Engineer

Job Description We are looking for an Operations Engineer to join our Managed Services (Hosting) Team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Engineers are responsible for supporting day to day operations of Managed Services. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Provide 24 x 7 support to ensure the successful operation of Managed Hosting environment Perform 24 x 7 monitoring of hosted client applications, internal network and other related devices that are used to support our environment. Identify, troubleshoot, and close service requests for routine client issues Follow all tickets to resolution, even if troubleshooting requires additional assistance. Meet response time guarantees
Escalate difficult service requests to Senior Operations, Managed Hosting Engineering Perform hardware software installation, upgrades, and migrations based on approved standards Perform system administration on hosted client systems and other related devices. Documenting all task progress and solutions in our Ticketing system and contributing actively to our Knowledgebase Wiki. Diagnose, document and automate solutions for common issues and tasks. Provide feedback and suggestions to management for process improvement and critical metrics Attend appropriate job skills training seminars and classes

REQUIRED Knowledge/Skills:

Bachelor degree or equivalent relevant experience required. 2-4 years experience in System Administration (Red Hat Linux) required 1-2 years experience with Oracle and SQL- familiarity with Database concepts and ability to perform basic tasks like running SQL queries or applying a patch. 1-2 years experience with Web and Application server technologies A Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking- 802.1d bridge, 802.1q VLAN Knowledge of virtualization environment (par virtualization, hypervisors); Experience with UNIX shell scripting Participation in the department on-call rotation is also required. Some travel to Amsterdam office and data center is also required Some travel to the US is also required Basic understanding of Linux, Solaris, Windows Operating systems; Database administration (Oracle) and SQL querying Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED:

Experience with Java and Perl a plus Experience with Windows System Administration a plus Experience with NFS filer storage and virtual environments a plus
