C++ Developer, Integration About the Company The market leader in their field. The ICT Operations and development function is located in Amsterdam. Meeting the most stringent performance standards in throughput, speed and reliability, the development team supports multiple high-availability applications for professionals in corporate institutions around the globe. Team You will be a part of the small team which is integrating data from various content providers. You will work together with highly experienced professionals, who value the success of the company and its entrepreneurial culture. The team uses an agile development process, which includes test-driven development, continuous integration, and a highly iterative release cycle. The team is looking to further expand its Development Team in Amsterdam with a C/C++ Developer with a creative and open mindset. The developer will be working on mission critical server-side C and C++ components for high-volume real-time data processing. Duties & accountabilities

Responsibilities will be to extend and improve the low latency high volume real-time software that is fault tolerant and scalable. The role will suit someone who enjoys very technical, low level programming in a multi threaded environment where code efficiency and speed is paramount.

Education and experience

" Experienced C/C++ programmer " Object Oriented programming " Multi-threaded programming (pthreads) " Network programming (TCP/IP) " Message Oriented Middleware (including JMS) " Familiarity with the following technologies is an advantage: POSIX, pthreads, STL, Oracle (OCI and/or OCCI), SQL. " Familiarity with the following technologies would also be advantageous: UML or other OO Analysis and Design technique , Boost, Linux, Solaris, JNI, Web Services, EJB, Servlets, JDBC/SQL, JTA, XML (Schema, XPath, XQuery, XSL), .NET. " A thorough understanding of distributed systems and clustering mechanisms is a plus " Familiarity with the following tools is essential: versioning systems (preferably CVS) " Familiarity with the following tools would be advantageous: profiling tools " Familiarity with financial systems is a plus " Understanding of the following software engineering practices: patterns, test driven development " Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to establish and maintain confidence " Fluency in English, spoken and written; Dutch is a plus
