Position summary
Our client is seeking an experienced testing professional to plan, write and execute both manual and automated tests. The candidate must be comfortable using a wide range of applications and technologies and able to co-ordinate their testing across shared project platforms. The required candidate must be enthusiastic and proactive and demonstrate a good understanding of testing methodologies combined with experience in gathering requirements and delivering system and regression test scripts. The candidate must have strong technical skills and be able to communicate and collaborate with the Development team. The candidate must have demonstrable knowledge of relational database theory and SQL. Experience with VBA/VBScript programming and performance testing would all be a considerable advantage, as would relevant finance knowledge.

Duties & accountabilities " Reviewing business requirements and associated design documentation. " Attending appropriate workshops and meetings to ensure a sound understanding of developments prior to testing. " Coordinating the testing process by taking responsibility for overall progress and liaising with development and the business to ensure deadlines are met " Developing test plans, approach, details and scripts. " Running manual tests on software ensuring it conforms to design and set standards. " Identify and develop improvements in the testing process, including automation. " Raising and resolving any issues / faults identified. " Manage risk and take contingency action where necessary. " Contribute to the development of a performance test framework " Input to the company-wide testing framework.

In addition to the above the candidate should have foresight to identify and comment on developments with the prospect of assessing whether they are of good enough quality to be released.

Business competencies Education and experience

" Demonstrable testing experience, ideally in a financial environment working on complex database systems. " Excellent understanding of software systems and development. " Experience working with V and RAD development life-cycle methodologies. " Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, stored procedures and other data manipulation technologies. " VBA/VBScript programming or experience using scripted automation testing software. " ISEB Certification desirable
